Slashing apart two vibrant communities and leaving them in cultural and economic ruin, Baltimore's I-40 Corridor, or the infamous Highway to Nowhere, is a constant physical reminder of the pain and injustices imposed upon the community. The design prompt is to build for healing: find a way to physically, culturally, and economically bridge together the communities separated from the highway with architecture.
I proposed the design for a prominent bus transfer station that facilitates accessible pedestrian traffic, provide space for people to gather, and help revitalize the local economy all the while designing against displacement.
